Tri-School PTSA

Monthly Book Club for 3rd-5th graders at Pine Crest. Chapter books are provided by the PTSA. Book discussions are held once/month with parents facilitating. Beginning mid-Fall thru June

Assist with various programs and distribution of communications that provide information and resources to SUSD’s Spanish speaking community. BILINGUAL HELP NEEDED!

Collect books from the community starting in October. Books are sorted by parent volunteers and then distributed to all students in December.

Help with promotion and set up and sales of Library fundraiser with Scholastic Book Fair Company.

Maintain/organize free books shelved at each school site. Plans a distribution schedule so that students receive books periodically.

Assist in promotion, collecting, clipping and mailing Box Tops for Education labels to raise extra funds at each school.

Assist in collecting, inventorying and shipping inkjet and/or toner cartridges and fuser cores collected at each school site. Promoting to the business community is encouraged. Funds go directly to schools. Last year’s earnings where $6,000 combined.

Help photocopy, collate and staple District packets on Tuesday prior to each shortened Wednesday.

Help plan and set up booths representing different countries and cultures from around the world. .Short presentations given to small groups of students.

Help coordinate school events that highlight the history behind this traditional Mexican celebration.

PTSA Fall Fundraiser. Assist with calculating orders, distribution and follow up.

Support group for grandparents who are the primary caregivers for children. Attend meetings to share information and resources. Organize contact list.

NEW committee. Provides educational information to parents and students on nutrition, health and safety issues. Assist with fitness events like National Walk to School Day activities.

Assist coordinator with gift giving program for families in need. Information must be kept confidential

Bring baked or ready-made somewhat healthy items for meetings, family events, etc.

Assist Park Side staff with Kindergarten registration. Host PTSA table. (A few hours in the Spring)

Help promote and collect Labels for Education found on Campbell’s and many other products.

Join committee to plan annual membership campaign; distribution of PTSA information and envelopes; creating data base, membership events.

Help copy, collate and staple PTSA newsletters; Assist with gathering information. Assist with “reporting” for email newsletter

Program based on “The Misfits” to draw attention to the damage and pain that hurtful words inflict on young students.

School-wide event at Park Side. Every classroom represents a country. Assist teachers with activities during day of the event.

Assist with or coordinate family-oriented events like: Magic Show, Skate Night at Snoopy’s Ice Arena; Kids Can Cook; SSU Basketball Event; Kids Flea Market; Year-end Fiesta Potluck.

Assist with activities that educate students on the importance of recycling. Help with special Earth Day events.

Assist with organizing classroom participation for this reading incentive program.

NEW: The Site Coordinator will remain current on site specific news and needs. Site Coordinators can work with Room Parents to create a “phone tree” so that all school families remain apprised of site needs and volunteer requests. Coordinators should try to attend monthly PTSA meetings for updates and talk with principals to stay up-to-date..

Coordinate volunteers to bring healthy snacks during STAR Testing weeks at PS, PC and BH.

Acknowledge and honor Staff and Teachers during Nationally Recognized Weeks, usually held in May.

Assist with annual 1st day of school morning coffee social event at Park Side.

Assist with compiling and updating data, and organizing distribution for Student Directory.

Park Side, Pine Crest and Brook Haven need an individual to periodically oversee distribution of Wish List forms and forward requests via email to newsletter editor.
